PODCAST: Toilet humor begone?

Carnival's Triump re-launches. An egg battle hatches into a debate about states' rights. And U.S. spying on EU citizens.

The Obama Administration successfully lobbied the EU to do away with a proposed data privacy measure, according to a report in the Financial Times. The exclusion would make it easier for the U.S. to spy on EU citizens.

Among the many big issues Congress has on its plate — immigration, sequestration and healthcare reform — there are countless smaller battles waged between law makers. One of those battles is about eggs, and it has hatched into a much bigger debate over states’ rights.

The Carnival Triumph is relaunching today out of Galveston, Texas. In February an engine fire knocked out the ship’s power. No one was injured, but passengers complained of food shortages and a lack of working toilets. The Triumph situation was everywhere, from CNN to Saturday Night Live. But now that we’re four months removed, it’s worth asking: Is the “Triumph” name forever besmirched?
