Videogame subscription service on the way

Think Netflix for videogames on an iPad

That’s the new arrangement between Apple and social game maker Big Fish. Instead of downloading each game as an individual app, turning one off and going to another, etc., gamers can subscribe to all the games the game studio makes, fire up an app and stream the games over the iPad. It’s something that’s been tried to no great success on browsers and computers a few times but the app functionality will probably make it more robust and workable. Of course, that depends on the games being fun and worth people’s time and ongoing $6.99 a month subscription, which is a big if. You can also choose a free version that has ads and is limited to 30 minutes of game play per day. The program is only available through Wi-Fi at the moment.

Android coming soon, says Big Fish. The company Big Fish, I mean. Actual big fish can’t talk, no matter how big they are.
