Scientists have created a laser that is alive (and now God will be too scared of our powers to ever smite us for our insolence!). They isolated a single cell from a jellyfish that has a special protein in it that has an optical amplifier(!), then they somehow got it to emit a green light.

From Scientific American:

The new research opens the door to more advanced biophotonic applications harnessing the intensity and information-carrying capacity of laser light, but it is not yet clear what uses might be feasible.

In other words, “we don’t know what we’re going to do with it but LIVING LASER, YO!”
