Chart of the day: just under half the world has internet access
In the U.S., 74.6 percent of people use the internet, which is actually pretty low compared to other wealthy nations.

A new report from the International Telecommunications Union shows just under half — 47 percent — of people use the internet worldwide, but that number varies wildly when you measure country by country or even region by region. The Washington Post notes the U.S.’s internet use — 74.6 percent — is above average but low compared to other developed countries.
