TARP, five years later

Five years ago today, the Troubled Asset Relief Program became law.

This final note today, which is probably one of the last stories you’re going to hear about the Lehman Brothers five-year anniversary.

Five years ago today, the Troubled Asset Relief Program became law. The law provided $700 billion to backstop the banking system.

As of today, according to the Treasury Department, here’s where we are with that: $421 billion paid out. Almost $23 billion still outstanding.
