Our little blue friend is headed to Plainville, Conn. This week, a woman nearly fell victim to what police are calling the “grandparent scam.” Someone calls late at night pretending to be a relative in distress and badly in need of cash. The scammer tells the victim — usually a senior citizen — to go to Western Union and transfer money. A woman in Plainville was about to do just that at a Western Union housed in a Big Y supermarket.

But a well-trained clerk became suspicious and called the police instead, which is why we’re sending a piggy to Plainville and Big Y superclerk Amy Allard. Would a robot have recognized the signs of a scam? We think not!
