Don't miss these missives from our listeners.

TESS VIGELAND: You’ve heard what we have to say, now it’s your turn. A couple of weeks ago our economics editor Chris Farrell took a position on the estate tax in our segment, the Straight Story. He said Congress should get not rid of it. Jeannette Winner lives in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and she didn’t agree with our Mr. Farrell at all.

JEANNETTE WINNER: My deceased husband and I worked very hard to have our nest egg. Why should it be taxed over and over. We taxpayers are already way overburdened paying for all of society’s ills. But Chris Farrell overlooked something. It isn’t the dead person paying, it is the heirs.

Speaking of overlooked. We mistakenly identified a student in our June 2 story that looked at the living wage battle on the campus of the University of Virginia. We called that student Zach Thomas. His name is Zach Fields. We got several letters about that living wage story. Kathryn Thatch listens to us in Boston. She graduated from the University of Virginia, and she says the reporting didn’t go far enough.

KATHRYN THATCH: The story never addressed the actual impact of the advocated wage increase on Susan G. The wage increase would give her about $213 more per month, less after taxes. She was asked how she feels about the protests, but she was never asked how an extra dollar per hour would change her life.
