Banking boardrooms are a male preserve. Only one of the world’s biggest banks – Santander – is run by a woman.  But from Britain  comes a plan to redress that gender imbalance.  A study commissioned by the U.K. government recommends smaller bonuses for bank bosses if they  fail to appoint more women to senior roles. Harriett Baldwin, economic secretary to the British Treasury, warmly welcomed the study and said the “U.K. has many  ‘brilliant, talented women’ whose skills ‘would be an enormous asset to any firm.’
