Willy Wonka partners with Ronald McDonald
Here are the numbers we're reading and watching for Wednesday.
$544 million
That’s how much Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants to raise in revenue from a historic property tax increase he proposed to the Chicago City Council on Tuesday. The money is needed to fund tens of billions of dollars in pension obligations.
80,000
That’s the number of ticket holders expected to pack Central Park to see the Pope Francis whiz by on his motorcade during his visit to New York this week. The pope will also visit Philadelphia, which reported it spent about $12 million in preparation for the pope’s visit.
$2 million
That’s about how much music publishing company Warner/Chappell raked in per year in copyright fees for licensing use of the song “Happy Birthday to You.” The Los Angeles Times reports that a federal judge ruled that the company, which enforced copyright protection since 1988, had no valid claim to rights over the song.
14 million
That’s the number of free books McDonald’s locations in the U.K. will give to children along with their Happy Meals. The estate of Roald Dahl, author of books-turned-movies like “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” teamed up with the fast-food behemoth to create special edition books with extracts from the classics novels, according to the Guardian.
