We all know that Research in Motion has been on the ropes for a while. BlackBerry used to be the hot smartphone platform, sure, but then again, David Duchovny was once thought of as a big movie star. My point is: THINGS CHANGE.
Still, the BlackBerry system works pretty well for companies who want good networking and very good security for their communications.

IBM is now said to be looking into buying just that one part of the business, according to Bloomberg:

No party has shown interest in buying all of RIM or the division that makes its phones, and the Canadian company is inclined to wait for the rollout of BlackBerry 10 phones next year before making any decisions on a sale, the person said.
IBM made an informal approach about possibly acquiring the division, which operates a network of secure servers used to support RIM’s BlackBerry devices, said one of the people, who asked not to be named because the matter is private. RIM shares rose as much as 9.2 percent in early U.S. trading.

That arrival of BlackBerry 10 might be kind of a letdown, actually, considering early reviews say the phones are nothing special.
