A judge ordered a temporary stay that will, for now, that keep the servers of  Megaupload’s seized data up and running. Carpathia, a web hosting company that owns some of the servers, says it’s losing $9000 a day while the courts decide what to do. U.S. District Court Judge Liam O’Grady wants Megaupload representatives and hosting companies to work out a deal. Meanwhile, as Wired reports, “the government has said it has copied “selected data” from Megaupload’s servers and that the 25 petabytes of data stored on hosting service Carpathia’s servers could be wiped out.”
It’s unclear how much of the data stored is legal and personal vs. how much is illegal copies of Kevin James in Mall Cop.
