People lost 30 billion dollars worth of phones last year

This is a Marketplace.org Reader

If you lost your phone, you might want to look in a coffee shop in Philadelphia, dummy. According to a new study, people lost 30 billion dollars worth of phones last year. BILLION! With a B! Buh! The most butterfingered city in America when it comes to phones? Philadelphia, also known as the City of Brotherly I Lose My Phone All The Time. And the most popular place to lose a phone? The coffee shop. Other forgetful cities include Seattle, Long Beach, Oakland, and Newark. Other places the phones are lost include bars, offices, and restaurants.

Sure, it’s easy to make fun of Mother, with her rotary dial land line on a big cord attached to the wall, but she’s not going to leave it in some dumb Starbucks in Philly. And it didn’t cost her 30 billion dollars.
