But that, they say, is part of what makes the symbolism of the shared password so powerful.” If you think about it, sharing a password is one of the most trusting acts you can share with someone. That’s where you’ll find the dusty lettermen’s jacket that your mom “accidentally” ran off with after breaking up with her high school beau. That guy suffered a little humiliation and was out the cost of the jacket, but you, young ones – you might be out much more, including the possible re-writing of your digital history, if you go sharing your password with any old Joe or Jane.
