Chipmaker, ARM is introducing the Cortex A7, which is billed as more energy efficient and slimmer than those on the market now. Although not as fast as some current chips, the Cortex A7 will help make smartphones cheaper and more accessible for people in developing countries. As for developed countries, the chip can be combined with another, faster chip enabling phones to switch processors depending on how taxing a process is. So if you’re checking email or sending a tweet, the A7 might be called upon, then when you decide to stream a movie or play a graphic-heavy game, the faster chip would kick in. ARM says using dual chips will help you battery life between charges and save on energy. It’s the dual flush toilet of smartphones. You’re welcome.
