This final note today. Two of ’em, actually.

First of all, a correction to my comment Wednesday that Newt Gingrich appropriated his campaign phrase “Win the Future” from the White House. Not true. Thanks to the several alert listeners who reminded me that the former Speaker of the House wrote a book way back in 2005 called “Winning the Future.”

Also, this from the annals of governments trying to whittle down their deficit. Reuters reports today that the British government’s going to save taxpayers almost $800,000 by selling off some of the fine wines it has in its cellars and replacing it with cheaper stuff to serve to visiting dignitaries.

In other news, who knew governments had wine cellars?
