AIG has removed its logo from corporate badges and credit cards, according to Bloomberg. This is because employees were getting harassed in public.

From Bloomberg:

The company told staff in March to conceal their badges and avoid mentioning the insurer in public, according to an internal memo…

“Due to a growing sense of public attention fueled by increased media scrutiny,” employees should avoid wearing AIG-branded apparel, travel in pairs at night and question people hovering near AIG offices, according to the March 18 memo.

Hopefully, things have calmed down since then. That was right around the bonus firestorm, when even a senator said AIG executives getting bonuses should “resign or go commit suicide.”

Still, AIG’s name is toast. The new badges have a burning globe on them instead.

Only kidding. It’s just a globe.

But seriously, AIG is probably still a good insurance company with hard-working employees. It was brought down by the recklessness of a few.

And now, those trying to get AIG back on its feet have to act like they work for another three-letter organization that’s known for keeping secret — the CIA.
