Nintendo admits that the new handheld goggle-free 3D game device is falling short of sales goals. 3.6 million units have been sold as of the end of March but sales have been declining every week, indicating that there isn’t a whole lot of buzz going on about this thing. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata thinks the problem might have something to do with both the media and how stupid people are: “The value of 3D images without the need for special glasses is hard to be understood through the existing media. However, we have found that people cannot feel it just by trying out a device, rather, some might even misestimate it when experiencing the images in an improper fashion.”

That’s right, Satoru. It has nothing to do with the short battery life, the lack of availability of a lot of 3D games, or people just thinking there’s nothing all that remarkable or wonderful about 3D. Avatar was cool but let’s not the Na’vi change OUR civilization, you know?
