Young workers at the start of their careers are having a hard time. The unemployment rate among people ages 20 to 24 was 8.2% in December. That’s significantly higher than their older colleagues, who have an unemployment rate at 3.7%.

At the same time, the job market can pull you in all kinds of directions, and even for older workers, experience doesn't always mean stability or knowing where your career will go next.

Christina Peters, now based in in Newark, Delaware, has been a commercial food photographer for decades. These days, she’s turning towards a new project.

“In 2020, I was like, well, I've always loved fine art photography. I've been doing it on the side for decades. Why don't I really start focusing on making a print shop?” said Peters.

Listen in the audio player above to hear about what she learned in her career as a food photographer, and how she’s making a pivot now.
