Bing signs up Encyclopedia Britannica

This is a Marketplace.org Reader

Eulogies have been delivered for the poor encyclopedia for some time now, especially in recent months as Britannica announced it would stop printing. This is, of course, because an entire Worldwide Web was built to replace it. But wait! What’s that sound in the cemetery! Britannica has RISEN FROM THE DEAD! AND TAKING A JOB WITH MICROSOFT! Bing will use content from Britannica in search results in a similar way that Google presents information in its Knowledge Graph. Google uses a complex set of algorithms and, I don’t know, magic spells or something to gather its content, Bing will lean on Britannica. TechCrunch says Google’s approach is better.
