This final note on the way out today: A little bit ew, a little bit misplaced nostalgia.
The Playboy Mansion here in L.A. has been sold. The buyer is a 32-year-old private equity guy who, by the way, is also one of the owners of the new Hostess Twinkie brand — bought the snack maker out of bankruptcy a couple of years ago.
The listing price was $200 million, and the house includes 12 bedrooms, a wine cellar, a theater, a gym, tennis courts and that grotto. It is, apparently, one of the few private residences in L.A. with a zoo license.
Also, comes with a 90-year-old man.
A condition of the sale is that Playboy founder Hugh Hefner gets to stay as long as he wants.
