Turkey has now joined the list of countries where questions about government, religion, and yes, social media have made for large scale protests. Tens of thousands of protesters in the country’s largest cities are drawing attention to a number of greivances. Many are calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.
Meanwhile Erdogan is calling the likes of Facebook the worst menace to society. This week 25 people were arrested in Turkey for what police deemed spreading misinformation on Twitter. Downloads of software that helps obscure the identity and activities of online users is now skyrocketing in the country.
