President Obama will hit the road today to try and get the public on his side in the debate over how to avoid the fiscal cliff. Republicans have reportedly rejected an opening offer from the White House which calls for a $1.6 trillion tax increase over ten years and the ability to raise the federal debt limit without Congressional approval.

One Republican senator who doesn’t want to raise taxes at all as part of a deal to avoid the fiscal cliff is Rand Paul of Kentucky. He joins us to share his thoughts on the ongoing negotiations and why spending cuts are necessary.
