  • Airing on Tuesday, July 21, 2015: First up, we’ll ask what will people be watching for Apples reports quarter earnings, and where the Watch figures in. We’ll also talk to Ryan Calo, Assistant Law Professor at the University of Washington and an affiliate scholar at the Stanford Center for Internet and Society, about why it’s so difficult to enforce drone regulations. And Kyle Wiens, CEO of the computer repair site iFixit, joins us to talk about why PC users won’t need to upgrade their hardware when they make the switch to Windows 10.

  • Airing on Monday, July 20, 2015: First up, we’ll talk with Richard Fichera, VP and Principal Analyst at Forrester Research, about IBM’s plan shit to strategic partnerships and away running costly businesses in-house. Next: by the end of the year, some 106 million Blue Cross Blue Shield consumers will have identity protection services that include credit monitoring, fraud detection and fraud resolution. We look at the costs, and whether this amounts to an ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure. Plus, we’ll take a tour of the visible internet infrastructure in Lower Manhattan with Ingrid Burrington, a fellow at the Data & Society Institute.

  • Airing on Wednesday, July 15, 2015: First up, Netflix releases its earnings this week and it’s counting on foreign markets, particularly China. We’ll hear about how its overseas expansion is faring. Then, we’ll talk with Marketplace’s Kai Ryssdal from Greece about how cash restrictions are pushing people to adopt web banking tools. We’ll also hear from Karen North, Professor of Digital Social Media and director of USC’s Annenberg Digital Social Media program, about whether or not reddit’s powerful community drives away funders and advertisers.    

  • Airing on Tuesday, July 14, 2015: First up, we’ll talk with Lindsey Turrentine, Editor-in-Chief at CNET.com, about Comcast’s new option for cordcutters – a service called Stream. We’ll also hear about the medical uses for the Oculus Rift. The virtual reality technology will be available to gamers in early 2016, but it may end up benefiting older, visually impaired non-gamers too.

  • Airing on Monday, July 13, 2015: First up, we’ll say an early happy birthday to the e-commerce site Amazon, which turns 20 on Wednesday. Hear about how the site is using its big day to  to grow business. We’ll also talk with Alan Stern, a planetary scientist and Principal Investigator for New Horizons mission, about the spacecraft’s Pluto fly-by. And we’ll talk with Dmitri Williams, associate professor at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism,  about in-game photos in God of War III.

  • Airing Friday, July 10, 2015: First up, we’ll talk about this year’s ComicCon is tapping into the rapidly growing number of niche subscription streaming services. We’ll also hear from Paul Karlsgodt, partner at Baker Hostetler, a law firm that specializes in data security, about class action lawsuits filed by federal employee unions against the OPM. Plus, how well have you kept up with the week in tech news? It’s time for Silicon Tally! This week, host Ben Johnson tries to stump Steve Kovach, Deputy Tech Editor at Business Insider, with numbers from this week’s tech news. 

  • Airing on Thursday, July 9, 2015: First up, we’ll talk with Bernard Donefer, Professor in the Department of Statistics and Computer Information Systems at Baruch College, about the trading halt at the NYSE. Then, we’ll talk with Noah Kraft, CEO of Doppler Labs, about augmented reality for your ears. Also on the show is Chris Low, Chief economist at FTN Financial, who will talk about how China’s tech companies are faring as the country’s markets fall.
