New phone, new problems

This is a Marketplace.org Reader

Less than a week after the Nokia Lumia 900 went on sale, Nokia has acknowledged a software bug in some of the phones. It says it will issue a fix by Monday, and, even though the problem doesn’t affect everybody, Nokia’s mea culpa comes with a $100 gift card to anybody who orders the Lumia 900 before midnight on April 21.

All Things D reports the details of the glitch: “the problem is a memory-management issue with the phone’s software, and is not tied to any hardware issues or to a flaw with AT&T’s network.”

For those of you interested in the new Windows-based phone, allow me to break Nokia’s apology down: Sign up for a new, two-year contract with AT&T. Get the Lumia 900 for $99.99. Redeem your $100 credit, and get a penny back for the “free” phone. Take your leftover penny to the rail yard, open up the video app on your new phone and film said penny being squished.
