Back in 2008, Twitter advertising group Twitad, trademarked the word “tweet.” It wasn’t a big deal until people at Twitter realized what had happened. Last month Twitter filed suit against Twitad to drop the trademark. Yesterday that suit was dropped, and Twitad moved ownership of the trademark to Twitter. The big losers in this: birds. Now every time a bird speaks, it owes Twitter a penny. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but birds can be squawkers and they’re total deadbeats.
