While a great deal of recent shipping news has been focused on what is happening internationally, there are domestic changes to watch as well. President Donald Trump recently announced a temporary waiver for the Jones Act, which is legislation enacted in 1920 that requires products traveling from one American port to another do so on American-built and American-crewed ships.

Austin Golding is the CEO and president of Golding Barge Line in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He joined “Marketplace” host Kai Ryssdal to talk about what that waiver means for business and what the impact is like in his industry when geopolitics affect shipping.
