After more than ten years in sales, Jill Johnson wanted to make a career change — preferably one that would allow her to feel fulfilled and spend more time with her kids.
Joining a women’s circle led by a coach sparked her interest in getting certified herself. Now, she’s been an executive coach for eight years.
Working in Silicon Valley, Johnson found it important to get certified specifically to help clients with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Employees with ADHD are often extremely talented, Johnson said, and corporate culture could benefit from being more accommodating.
“I don’t see what a corporation has to lose by letting a superstar employee come in at 10 versus at nine, or work from home for a few days,” she said. “These are simple ways that everybody benefits from just a little bit more flexibility.”
