  • Airing on Tuesday, August 4, 2015: On today’s show, we’ll talk about oil’s new volatility with prices creeping back up after falling to a six month low on Monday. And with CVS’s earnings report on Tuesday, we check on the corporate strategy that has helped CVS shares approach record highs. Plus, nearly ten years ago, New Orleans was inundated by flood waters, after a spectacular failure of the city’s levees. We have the story of a financial institution — itself devastated — that played a key role in the rebuilding.

  • Airing on August, 3, 2015: With the Athens exchange is due to re-open Monday — it has been closed for more than a month as Greece negotiated with creditors  — we look at the effects of the exchange’s return to business. Auto sales numbers are also out Monday. June sales hit a high for recent months, but the greatest marketing scheme in the auto industry may be convincing people to lease, guaranteeing a repeat customer in two to three years. Plus, we’ve been hearing right through the recession and recovery that people are dropping out of the workforce. That is, except older people. For many middle- and working-class seniors, staying on the job well into one’s 70’s is the only ‘financial plan’ left.

  • Airing on Wednesday, July 29, 2015: Overnight, about 2,000 migrants attempted to push themselves into the Eurotunnel terminal near the French city of Calais, but were pushed back. More on that. Plus, we’ll talk about the Department of Agriculture’s preparations for the fall migratory season, when it expects wildfowl infected with bird flu could bring a new wave of the disease. We’ll also talk about the fancy, remote-controlled toilets that are popular in Japan, but have yet to take hold in the U.S.

  • Airing on Tuesday, July 28, 2015: BP’s quarterly report this morning was full of stains. More on that. And automaker Ford will announce its earnings before the markets open on Tuesday. The Case Shiller Home Price Index is expected to reveal it’s latest figures at the same time. We’ll talk about the surprising correlation between the two. Plus, one of the biggest concerns in the LGBT community is how to keep up fundraising now that the same-sex marriage battle has been won. Complicated issues can be a much bigger challenge than same-sex marriage, which is very easy to market.

  • Airing on Monday, July 27, 2015: Stocks took another tumble today in China after a period of relative calm. More on that. And after all its recent trouble, the word is that Gawker will be relaunched next week as a kinder, gentler version of itself. We’ll talk about what a nicer Gawker might look like. Plus, advocates for underwater homeowners want Mel Watt, who oversees Fannie and Freddie, to share the wealth, and reduce the principal on those homeowners’ loans.
