New data on retail sales today that gave a sense of all-important consumer spending as we head into the heart of the holiday shopping season.

The way the Census Bureau calculates its retail sales data wasn’t an issue until prices started rising a couple years back.

They helped push up retail sales in March, but they’re already coming back down.
