Last Friday, the federal government put out a plan forcing some states to cut back on water from the Colorado River. By Monday, the state of Nevada filed a lawsuit describing the cuts as an unfair burden.

Four Western states are paying farmers and ranchers tens of millions of dollars this year to conserve water as part of a short-term plan to save water from the Colorado River.

California did not sign on to a proposal from six other states.
