As Americans splash out more cash on Halloween with every passing year, some households are dropping $1,000 or more on custom porch decor.
“It’s just sort of become part of the fabric of our lives. It’s now vanilla and chocolate and peppermint… and pumpkin spice,” says food writer Emily Heil.
“We’d like to think that we’re responsible for high demand but it’s really the weather,” says Al Rose of Red Apple Farm.
The show must go on — somehow — for theater and other live productions in order for their companies to survive financially.
