WTO revisits Doha Agenda…14 years later

Everyone had an opinion about a complex deal that hasn't even been made public yet.

The Obama administration is expected to announce a World Trade Organization complaint against Chinese subsidies for auto parts exports today at a campaign stop in Ohio.

After nearly two decades of negotiations, Russia is now officially a member of the World Trade Organization. It's an economic boon for Russia.

It takes a lot of what are called rare earths to make the electronics that keep us going in the 21st century. The Obama Administration believes China is holding back its supply of these special metals to drive up prices and now the U.S. , the European Union, and Japan are taking their beef about China to the World Trade Organization.

The World Trade Organization has ruled that China must immediately drop its system of export taxes and quotas on a range of raw materials.

A ruling against China by the World Trade Organization could mean cheaper rare earth metals. The metals are used in many electronic devices.

After years of bickering over terms, Russia is getting an invitation to join the World Trade Organization. WTO ministers start a three day meeting in Geneva today.
