Days after the New York Times sold the Boston Globe to investor John Henry, the Washington Post Co. sold its flagship paper to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Amazon is coming out with its own media box for TVs, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. The device would compete with Apple TV, Roku, and possibly cable and satellite companies.
Some Amazon critics say the company’s razor-thin quarterly profits — if there are any at all — are evidence that CEO Jeff Bezos is running the company like a “charity” for the benefit of customers at the expense of shareholders.
