Altadena Hardware stood in Altadena, California, for over 90 years, until the devastating Eaton Fire burned it down a year-and-a-half ago.

Jimmy Orlandini, a third-generation small business owner and owner of Altadena Hardware since 2010, has spent the months following the fire recovering, like many other local businesses.

After months of searching for a temporary location within budget, this summer, Orlandini finally found a space to move into — this one less temporary.

Orlandini still plans to move back into his Altadena location once it is rebuilt, but for now, he has taken up business at a long-standing establishment in the next town over.

“Marketplace” host Kai Ryssdal visited Orlandini at his new store, Arnold’s Frontier Hardware in Sierra Madre.
