When Hurricane Helene hit the southeastern U.S. in 2024, Asheville Tea Company lost its production facility in Asheville, North Carolina. Since then, the company has been in recovery mode.

Now, almost a full two years later, it’s moving to a new location — with a new set of challenges from the ongoing U.S.-Canada tariff war.

Co-founder Jessie Dean credits her team, partner organizations, and local community for supporting the company through ups and downs.

“What has driven me to continue to do this work is really the sense of purpose that I have baked into this company,” Dean said. “I want to have economic impact in a positive way on our region.”

“Marketplace” host Amy Scott checked in with Dean about new developments for Asheville Tea Company.
