Eve Schaub likes projects. Specifically, big projects requiring big commitments.

In 2012, she committed to a year of eating food without added sugar. Later, she committed to a year of decluttering and then a year of no garbage. Now, she’s taking on fast-fashion … slowly.

“I thought I could do this project in a calendar year,” she said. “I was very mistaken.”

Last April, Schaub began the process of “growing a dress” in her backyard. She planted 600 square feet of flax seeds, which she’s attempting to transform into yarn and, eventually, a dress.
