Dawn Wolfe knew she wanted to work with animals after watching the 1974 film Benji, featuring a lovable stray dog.

“I was seven years old, and I was fascinated with how well trained the dog was,” Wolfe said.

The film inspired her career working with animals. Over a career spanning decades, Wolfe has been matching animal actors with film, television and commercial productions.

Wolfe is the owner behind the talent agency Pawsitively Famous and has worked with a wide range of animals, from dogs and cats to reptiles — and, perhaps begrudgingly, tarantulas.

“Marketplace Morning Report” spoke with Wolfe for our ongoing jobs series, “What’s That Like?” where we explore the weird and wonderful world of work.

From unusual tricks that help pay the bills to the flexibility of the job itself, Wolfe takes us behind the scenes as an animal talent agent. Press the “listen now” button above for more.
