In 2025, Sheila Martin took a leap. After a decade teaching special education, and with a couple horses on hand, Martin founded her nonprofit, Triple H Ranch, in Milton, Wisconsin.

The mission: to engage and strengthen individuals with disabilities through caring for and riding horses.

“[They] develop a relationship with the horse, and learn how to handle them and ride,” said Martin. “The goal is to help them strengthen themselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.”
