In the social media age, everyone wants to be an influencer.

Goldman Sachs predicts that by 2027, the influencer industry will grow to $500 billion. It’s not an overstatement to say that influencing has changed how and what content we consume on the internet. And in turn, it informs what we choose to buy.

“Marketplace” host Kristin Schwab talked with Mia Sato, reporter at The Verge, about her piece "You are not immune to shopaganda," which looks at how influencers are changing the consumer economy.
