You would have thought that hiring Russell Brand to appear in the commercials would have made it a big hit.

Best Buy is reportedly telling HP to take back a lot of the inventory sitting unsold in the stores. According to CNET, Best Buy took delivery of 270,000 TouchPads and has sold, at most, 25,000 of them. And even that number may be charitable as it doesn’t take into account people buying it, hating it, and bringing it back. Ouch.

The TouchPad debuted in June and has already received a permanent across the board markdown of $100.
