We had news last week in our memo of Netflix producing original content – a show staring Kevin Spacey. This week, we hear Hulu is set to start airing a new series starring Kiefer Sutherland called “The Confession.” The episodes will be short – five to seven minutes long – and it’s set to launch next Monday. Yahoo and AOL are hoping to get in on the online programming rush, too. They’re a whole lot cheaper to make, and with everyone watching TV online and on their iPads, the market seems to be gaining momentum. From the Wall Street Journal: Several producers and distributors of original Web video liken what they are doing to the dawn of cable television, when upstart networks relied mostly on older “library content” and other cheap programming to fill time. Later, cable networks began commissioning more and more expensive original programs to differentiate themselves.
