Roger Ebert recently called 3D movies “a waste of a perfectly good dimension” and moviegoers may be agreeing with him. The Daily Telegraph reports that since the release of Avatar in 3D, there has been a steady drop in the number of people choosing to see a major movie in 3D when 2D was also available. Of course part of that may have to do with recent movies like The Last Airbender and Clash of the Titans being horrible so perhaps that may explain why audiences don’t want to shell out extra dollars. Could the fad have peaked (like so many other 3D movie fads of the past) and if so what does that mean for the wave of 3D televisions and programming supposedly about to arrive?
