Looks like Wall Street is getting a friend in the Trump administration.

According to a report late this afternoon in the New York Times, among many other sources, President-elect Donald Trump has chosen former Goldman Sachs partner Steve Mnuchin to be his new Treasury secretary. The formal announcement is set to come tomorrow.

Mnuchin was the Trump campaign’s national finance chairman. That’s about the extent of his political experience.

He’s run a hedge fund — Dune Capital Management — and bankrolled a couple of big budget movies, like “American Sniper” and “Suicide Squad.”

Bloomberg did a cover story on him a couple of months ago. Around the same time, I spoke with Max Abelson from Bloomberg about who Steve Mnuchin is, and why his proximity to Trump, as news today demonstrates, hinted at something more politically long term. Hear the full interview below:
