Yahoo! gets a web series

Marc Sanchez Jan 9, 2012

If you’re Prince, you release songs like “Erotic City”. Tom Hanks is most definitely not Prince, which is why his newest release is called “Electric City”. Hanks is expected to announce the animated show at CES later today. He’s been working on the series for years and thinks he’s finally found a home for it on Yahoo! So Yahoo! is now your place for searching, fantasy sports, and an animated web series. Sure, why not?
From the AP: “The series is set in a seemingly peaceful city situated in a post-apocalyptic world. Many of its themes are socially conscious topics relevant to today, including energy consumption.” Hanks will lend his voice to one of the show’s characters, which will be translated into several languages. And it looks like this is just the beginning for Yahoo! as the AP continues: “In October, Yahoo launched a slate of programming targeted at women. It’s planning another batch of programming for February that will focus on comedy, including partnerships with Bill Maher and the Funny or Die website.”
And for those of you expecting to see the video for “Erotic City” attached to this post: sorry. Just trust me when I tell you that Googling “Erotic City” probably isn’t the brightest idea. Also, my apologies to the IT department.
