Sony announces cleverly titled tablet computers

John Moe Apr 26, 2011

S1 and S2 will be available this fall as Sony finally wakes up to 2010 and launches a tablet. In 2011. Both tablets are wi-fi enabled AND work on 3G and 4G data networks. No retail prices announced. At the Consumer Electronics Show in January, Sony announced they wanted to be #2 in tablets, which seemed odd at the time since they didn’t have a tablet. It’s kind of like Axl Rose announcing he wanted to win a Grammy for Chinese Democracy in 1998. Anyway, we shall see if Sony presents something different enough to make a dent in tablets. This announcement comes as one analyst says Motorola has sold 25,000 to 120,000 Xoom tablets since launch. “iPad” and “tablet” are becoming synonyms.
