Samsung appeals European ban

John Moe Aug 15, 2011

Well, speaking of patents and technology and lawsuits and devices, let’s check in with Europe. That’s where Samsung really wants to sell its Android-driven Galaxy Tab tablet computer but can’t because of Apple. Apple was able to get an injunction to block sales of that tablet based on the assertion that Samsung “slavishly” copied the iPad in making the Galaxy Tab. Samsung was banned from importing or selling the device in Europe, except for The Netherlands which chose not to comply, last week and a German judge is expected to rule on the appeal in the next two weeks. Meanwhile, third party vendors are allowed to sell remaining stock.
