A new scanner may offer death to the $5 bottle of airport water

Marc Sanchez Jan 25, 2012

Yesterday Homeland Security introduced a new scanner, the Insight 100, that will let you take more than 100 ml of liquid on a plane. The agency says the new device could scan bottles in less than five seconds and be in U.S. airports by 2013. With the amount of plastic bags we’ve been using to store our little bottles of soap and other liquids, not to mention the plastic bottles of water we end up buying at airport gift shops, perhaps this move could put a dent into plastic consumption.

One person who might not agree with the move? Mr. McGuire.
