Kinect is a hit

John Moe Nov 16, 2010

The controllerless controller has sold a million units in the ten days since its launch, according to Microsoft, which expects to sell 5 million Kinects before the end of the year. For some sense of scale, the iPad took about 30 days to sell a million units, same with Sony’s new Move controller for the PlayStation.

Microsoft says if you want one by Christmas, buy it this week.

It’s good news for the console game industry which has seen sales of all products, even the Nintendo Wii, tailing off in recent months as gamers pick up more casual games on mobile devices. It also means a huge shift could be coming to gaming as motion sensitive gaming becomes the dominant force. And you know what that means: everyone off the couch.
