Facebook music push is on?

John Moe Jun 20, 2011

Om Malik at Giga Om reports that Facebook is lining up major music partners as it heads toward a future with a whole lot of music integration. According to the pitches that Facebook has made to various potential loose-lipped music partners, the heart of the operation would be what’s called a Music Dashboard where you can hear songs by your favorite artists and check out recommendations from your friends of what they’re listening to. There also may be a persistent music stream a la Pandora that you can turn on or off so you can listen while you’re on Facebook (and thus be on Facebook more, share more information, let Facebook develop your profile more, watch more ads that Facebook gets paid to show you). Giga Om reports that Facebook has been talking a lot with Spotify but the new service may involve more than just that one service.
