Amazon has made a software update available for download that aims to fix some of the problems people have been having with the Kindle Fire tablet. The update, which is free, promises to improve “fluidity” and improve the touch navigation ability.
Other big gripes with the Kindle Fire addressed by the update are the new option to choose which items display on the carousel, and the ability to add a password lock on Wi-Fi access. It’s still unclear whether the password lock fixes the lack of security and parental controls that can lead to children viewing inappropriate content or racking up huge content bills.
The update comes about a week after some of these problems really started to gain traction and Amazon promised an update within two weeks. Christmas is a big season for Amazon so this is important. It’s also important because of all the negative customer reviews that have been showing up. Amazon needs to stem that tide for this thing to keep being a big hit.
